The organizers of Spoga Horse will be focusing on one trade fair per year: Spoga Horse Spring from the 6th to the 8th of February 2021. This means: There will be no trade fair this September. Read here how exhibition management and exhibitors react.
Starting in 2021, exhibitors and retailers will meet only once a year at Spoga Horse in Cologne: at the Spoga Spring. The organizers of Koelnmesse reached this decision together with leading representatives of the international industry.. The talks had already begun a year ago with the aim of creating the world’s most important event for the equestrian retail industry. This leading trade fair should take place once a year.
Benefits of one trade fair
In order to create space for growth, Spoga Horse will take place in halls 7 and 8 of Koelnmesse from the 6th to the 8th of February 2021. “Our vision is to position Spoga Horse as the world’s leading trade fair for the entire equestrian sports and horse sector,” emphasizes Oliver Frese, Executive Vice President of Koelnmesse. “Together with the industry, we will bring all the relevant players together once a year in Cologne.” Catja Caspary, Executive Vice President of Koelnmesse, confirms the decision and also refers to the exhibitors’ feedback. She notes: “We have invested a lot of time in evaluating possible scenarios and are pleased that our exhibitors are going along with the results of our considerations and discussions with them. Together, we will create a complete overview of the industry in the spring and thus give Spoga Horse new international appeal.”
New formats and target groups
The focus will continue to be on the successful three components exhibition, conference and networking. From 2021, Hall 7 in the north area will provide more space for the Spoga Horse. The organizers also see potential for growth in the range of exhibitors: they are planning to include sectors such as stable construction and transport in particular, as well as insurance and travel providers.
Concerning the visitors the target group is also expanding: from 2021, the Spoga Horse will welcome all commercial professionals in the equestrian industry who want to revitalize their business and obtain information for customers. In addition, conference and networking opportunities will contribute to the international exchange of knowledge. To this end, Koelnmesse wants to refresh existing successful formats and develop completely new ones. Additional digital offers and Matchmaking 365+ are intended to stimulate contact between exhibitors and visitors outside the exhibition halls and beyond the trade fair.
Reactions of the exhibitors
The new rotation has logistical and financial advantages for visitors and exhibitors. Klaus Geuecke, International Business Development at Kerbl, emphasizes: “This future-oriented decision is a cost-efficient and intelligent solution for all exhibitors as well as trade visitors.” Companies like Prestige Italia and Sprenger Metallwarenfabrik also support the decision of Koelnmesse. Martin Sprenger, Managing Director of Sprenger Metallwarenfabrik, says: “We are convinced that the focus on one event offers great advantages for exhibitors and visitors. Attention will be concentrated on this one event and will not, as in the past, be spread over two dates per year. This means that Spoga Horse will once again become an important and globally recognized event that reflects the entire breadth of the industry.”
