Spoga Horse 2021 cancelled

Due to the continuing high number of infections worldwide, Spoga Horse 2021 will not take place. The trade fair team promises a new innovative concept for the leading trade fair in 2022, which is planned from February 5th to 7th, 2022.

The preparations for the fair had gone well, but the continuing critical situation and international travel restrictions have forced the organizers to cancel Spoga Horse 2021. The decision was made in close consultation with industry representatives. “Together, however, they agreed to use this decision as an opportunity and to start implementing the new innovative concept for February 2022 now and to implement the first formats in 2021,” the trade show team writes in the current press release.

The Executive Vice President of Koelnmesse, Oliver Frese, sums it up: “The heart of a trade fair is and continues tob e about meeting up and communication. It thrives on the visitors who come from all over the world and contribute to the quality of the fair. We can no longer guarantee this quality due to the very dynamic infection situation and the associated cancellations by exhibitors. Of course this decision is difficult for us. Nevertheless, it is now important to look ahead positively together with our partners. We are prepared to conduct our trade fairs with maximum safety and hygiene precautions, to supplement them with digital concepts and to take them into the future”.

Digital offers

Innovative ideas and the shift to the digital sphere have already proven themselves in many areas over the course of this year. They will also be an important addition to the trade show business. With Matchmaking 365+, Koelnmesse has already created an exchange opportunity in October 2020, which is available to registered exhibitors, trade visitors and media representatives for networking. Further innovations include the digital awards ceremony for Spoga Horse Top Innovations in February 2021.

Frank Hölscher, Managing Director of Josef Hölscher and Chairman of the Equestrian Sports Section of the Federal Association of the German Sporting Goods Industry remarks: “The innovative concept developed by Koelnmesse over the past weeks and months is trend-setting for the national and international equestrian industry. On the basis of the diverse and new approaches, all areas and product groups of the industry are represented. In addition, the newly developed formats allow for individual presentation options, so that everyone can find themselves in the formats”.

The planning for the 2022 events is already ongoing. Among other things, the focus is on the further development of digital formats as a suitable supplement to the physical trade fair. The organizers plan to implement some of these formats as early as 2021.
